Gong Xi Fa Chai!

The Chinese Year of the Dragon was welcomed by one and all on Sunday in London.  The day saw parades of Dragons breathing there way through China town, or should I say squeezing there way through China Town.  The fourth plinth with Nelsons ship looked like a scene from the Battle of Trafalger, and poor Nelson probably wondered what was happening as a Chinese Dragon scaled his column, his with flames in the form of red and gold fireworks.  All very coloured co-ordinated!

The Year of the dragon is the symbol of Good fortune in Chinese Astrology and aaccording to tradition the Dragon brings in the Four Blessings of the East: wealth, virtue, harmony and longevity.  One thing that I'm not sure about, is if you have to be Chinese for these blessings to be yours too?  I hope not as I'm hoping for a good year, as we all are.

My Good fortune came all too shortly to an end, as I had been planning on eating some Chinese food that night.  Due to the amount of people all with the same plan, everywhere was fully booked and I couldn't get a table, not for all the Tea in china.

Well, I hope that the Year of the Dragon is a good one for you!

Gong Xi Fa Chai 2012!
